Political Declaration for the Sudan of the Future (SoF)

SoF Political Declaration

Preamble:

Driven by a firm conviction in the greatness of the Sudanese people’s revolution for liberation from oppression, injustice, and backwardness, and with unwavering belief in the values of freedom, justice, and unity, we seek to build a true Sudanese identity that represents all components of the Sudanese peoples. We aim to establish a free, democratic, federal, secular, and liberal state, where voluntary unity and equal citizenship are the sole foundation for securing rights, fulfilling duties, and safeguarding human rights, general freedoms, and the rule of law as stipulated in regional and international conventions. Our objective is to overcome the failures of the successive authoritarian and elitist regimes that have ruled the country since independence, ensuring justice for victims, accountability for perpetrators, and a just distribution of power and wealth through national and international judicial institutions.

In alignment with the popular revolutionary movements of the Sudanese peoples striving to free themselves from the grip of tyranny, and in solidarity with the great popular revolution that has spread across the country since December 2018, toppling the head of the regime, we declare our commitment to achieving all legitimate revolutionary demands. We recognize this revolution as an accumulation of the efforts of all the forces of the people and reaffirm our dedication to continuing the struggle until all the legitimate rights of the Sudanese peoples are secured. With this, we present the Political Declaration of the Sudan of the Future (SoF) according to the following principles, goals, and policies.

Chapter One: Principles and Values

  1. Sudanese Identity:
The Sudan of the Future (SoF) adopts a national identity that encompasses all components of the Sudanese peoples. This identity is based on the values of pluralism, tolerance, and mutual respect, taking into account the diversity of cultures, religions, and ethnicities. SoF emphasizes the unity of the Sudanese identity through voluntary unity and peaceful coexistence, supported by cultural and religious freedoms.
  2. Citizenship:
SoF advocates for equal citizenship as the sole basis for rights and duties. It rejects all forms of discrimination based on race, religion, gender, ethnicity, or any other grounds. Every citizen is entitled to full rights, regardless of their origin, with a firm commitment to the principle of equality in rights and obligations.
  3. Freedom, Democracy, and Human Rights:
SoF is committed to establishing a democratic, liberal, and secular state that respects human rights and freedoms. SoF supports the separation of religion from the state, ensuring that religious beliefs do not interfere with political decisions. SoF is dedicated to protecting civil and political rights, including freedom of expression, association, and assembly, while promoting a culture of peace and non-violence.
  4. Justice and Rule of Law:
SoF is committed to achieving justice and the rule of law, ensuring accountability and redress for victims of human rights violations. It supports the establishment of a fair and independent judiciary, free from political influence, and upholding the principles of justice and equality before the law. SoF also emphasizes the importance of transitional justice to address the crimes of past regimes and to reconcile with the victims.
  5. Federalism and Decentralization:
SoF advocates for a federal system of governance that grants broad autonomy to regions and states. This system will allow for the decentralization of power and the effective participation of all regions in decision-making processes. SoF supports local governance and the devolution of authority to empower communities in managing their own affairs.
  6. Economic Justice and Development:
SoF seeks to establish a just and sustainable economic system that ensures a fair distribution of wealth and resources among all regions and social groups. It emphasizes the importance of addressing poverty, unemployment, and economic disparities through comprehensive development programs. SoF advocates for policies that promote economic growth, social welfare, and environmental protection.
  7. Social Justice and Inclusion:
SoF is committed to achieving social justice by addressing the needs of marginalized and vulnerable groups, including women, children, and people with disabilities. SoF supports the empowerment of women and the promotion of gender equality in all aspects of life. It also emphasizes the importance of social inclusion and cohesion, ensuring that all citizens have equal access to opportunities and services.
  8. National Unity and Peacebuilding:
SoF prioritizes the preservation of national unity and the promotion of peace and reconciliation among all Sudanese peoples. It supports efforts to resolve conflicts peacefully, address grievances, and foster a culture of tolerance and coexistence. SoF advocates for the establishment of mechanisms for conflict resolution and peacebuilding, both at the national and local levels.
  9. International Cooperation and Regional Integration:
SoF seeks to strengthen Sudan’s relations with the international community and promote regional integration within Africa and the Arab world. SoF supports cooperation with international organizations, neighboring countries, and regional blocs to address common challenges and enhance Sudan’s role in global affairs. It emphasizes the importance of diplomacy, dialogue, and mutual respect in international relations.
  10. Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development:
SoF is committed to environmental protection and the promotion of sustainable development. It advocates for policies that address climate change, preserve natural resources, and protect biodiversity. SoF emphasizes the need for sustainable management of the environment to ensure the well-being of future generations.
